Stranger danger - "Stranger danger" is a term applied to the instruction that children should avoid talking to anyone they don't know, in case these people turn out to be dangerous. Given that statistics show children to be in more danger from those known to them, the idea of "stranger danger" can be considered misguided, but most children will hear it at least once in their lives, and many books have been devoted to helping them remember this advice.
